In the heart of Bahia lies a magical region filled with valleys, waterfalls, mountains, and viewpoints. A remote place with no phone signal, accessible only on foot or by mule. The 3-day Pati Valley trek is a deep immersion into nature and yourself, with trails, waterfall baths, and overnight stays in the simple and welcoming homes of locals.

1º day

Subida dos Aleixos, Gerais do Rio Preto e Mirante do Pati

We leave Lençóis at 7 a.m. and head towards Guiné (a 2-hour drive), where we will start and finish the circular trek. Once inside the Valley, there will be 72 hours without any phone signal. The trail begins with the steep Aleixos Ascent, which takes about 1 hour. After the climb, we walk along the flat stretch of the Gerais do Rio Preto. We can take a swim in the river while the guides prepare a hearty picnic, with freshly brewed coffee. Then, we continue to the Pati Viewpoint, offering a breathtaking view of the Valley. After enjoying the view and taking photos, we descend the Rampa and head for a refreshing swim at Altina Waterfall. We end the day with a wonderful dinner prepared by the locals over a wood-fired stove, followed by a campfire under the starry sky. Note: We hike the entire day carrying our backpacks and only reach the native’s house at the end of the day. Total for Day 1: 10 km Overnight: Local native’s house Meals included: Lunch and dinner

2º day

Morro do Castelo e Cachoeiras do Funil

Our day begins after breakfast (7 a.m.) with a steep ascent of the impressive Castle Hill. We reach the entrance of Lapinha Cave, circling around the hill to arrive at two incredible viewpoints, where our guide will prepare a nutritious and hearty picnic lunch with a view. After lunch, we descend Castle Hill and head towards the circuit of three waterfalls along the Funil River: Bananeiras Waterfall, Funil Waterfall, and Altina Waterfall, where we can enjoy a refreshing swim. At the end of the day, we return to the native’s house for dinner and rest. Overnight: Local native’s house Total for Day 2: 12 km Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner

3º day

Cachoeirão por Cima e saída no Guiné

We will leave the native’s house after breakfast and hike up to one of the main highlights of the trek: the Cachoeirão View from above. With several waterfalls that often form rainbows, its 300-meter height creates a breathtaking landscape. After having a snack while enjoying this incredible view, we continue along the flat stretch of the Gerais do Rio Preto, descend the Aleixos, and finally reach the place where we left the car on the first day. By car, we will return to Lençóis, with an expected arrival around 8 p.m. Total for Day 3: 18 km Meals included: Breakfast and lunch Return to Lençóis.

What do we eat during the trek?

Meals at the locals’ homes are a very special part of the trekking experience. The homemade food, freshly prepared with lots of love, wins our hearts. And the picnics prepared by our guides along the trail are just as delightful!

Where will we sleep?

At the natives’ homes, and that’s what makes this immersion even more special. Only 14 families live in the Valley, and staying with one of them means learning from those who actually live there. The exchanges are very rich: you get to discover the way of life of people living inside Pati and meet many people from Brazil and around the world.
